Library Assistant

Charterhouse is a leading independent school with over 800 pupils aged 13 to 18, the majority of whom are boarders. The Library exists to meet the information needs of the whole school community, and to support all teaching and learning. It has an extensive collection of over 30,000 books, films, CDs and magazines, and manages a large number of online databases.

The role
We are looking to recruit a Library Assistant to provide a supervisory presence in the Library, enabling pupils and staff to access and exploit the potential of Library resources. Administrative tasks will include cataloguing and classifying new resources, issue/enquiry desk duties, stock checking, book processing and repairs, processing orders and acquisitions and assisting with library displays.

Working hours for the role are 22.5 hours per week to include one evening and weekend duties, Term Time only (32 weeks per year).

Monday 8:00 - 12:00
Tuesday 8:00 - 12:00
Wednesday 8:00 - 12:00
Thursday 15:00 - 21:00
Friday - Off
Sunday - 13:30 - 18:00

There may be flexibility in the working pattern over a two week period (week one 22 hours and week two 22.5 hours). This will include working alternative Saturday and Sunday afternoons (Saturday 14:00 - 18:00).

There will also be a requirement to come into the School for some time on the day before each term starts in order to undertake relevant staff training and departmental meetings.
