We are a contract caterer (Lexington Independent) based at Charterhouse School, Godalming. The food service assistant is required to serve food to the pupils and staff in a professional & pleasant manner, to the required standards.
To ensure the dining rooms & service areas are clean, cleared and prepared for service to the correct standard and to operate within a safe & healthy environment at all times.
Due to the changes in our services we are currently recruiting for approximately 10 positions for food service assistants.
Services: Boarding school, providing breakfast, lunch & evening meal for approximately 800 pupils plus teachers & site support staff.
In brief we are looking for friendly, enthusiastic individuals to join our large team on this prestigious school site.
Applicants must have great communications skills and good spoken English
Ideally with experience, but full training will be given to the right applicants
Full DBS clearance required (we will complete this for the successful candidates)
Rate of pay: £8.72 per hour
Hours: 12-8pm (Monday - Sunday) 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis ,to include weekends.
or 4-8pm (Monday - Sunday) 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis, to include weekends.
This is a term time contract (32 weeks per year) paid pro-rata
There will also be the option of additional overtime during the holidays (we are open for commercial residential lettings) ie. Sports groups/conferences/weddings etc.

To assist in the service, clearing & cleaning down of Homebill service and some hospitality functions (according to the specific shifts requirements)
To clear down the catering area and equipment as detailed in the cleaning schedule.
To clean the dining rooms as per cleaning schedule in operation at the time.
To lay up and prepare the dining rooms for the next meal service.
To assist in the distribution of food items to the dining rooms prior to service, ensuring that they are handled in a hygienic manner and presented to the agreed standard.
To serve food to the highest standard and to adhere to the portion size as specified by the Chef / Manager / Supervisor
To maintain an excellent standard of care to customers and clients.
To store equipment and food in the correct manner and area.
Taking and recording food and equipment temperatures by the approved method.
To check and use by dates on food and using good stock rotation.
To date label food items correctly.
To adhere to the cleaning schedule for all other associated areas.
(for example, back of house, entrance lobbies to dining rooms etc.)
To undertake deep cleaning as required especially at the end of term.
To report any breakages and equipment malfunctions to the supervisor/line manager.
To operate standards laid down by elior catering at all times.
To ensure that the positive, pro-active customer care philosophy is followed at all times.
To attend on and off the job training sessions as required.
To report any pupils behaving in an unruly or disruptive nature.
To assist in the operation and cleaning of the dishwasher.
To ensure all special diets in your dining rooms are looked after accordingly.
To adhere to the current food hygiene and Health and Safety legislation.
Cleaning of beverage machines and other machinery (training provided)
To take breaks on instruction from the supervisor in accordance with the needs of the daily business.
To work in any part of the school catering facilities where and when required.
To undertake any reasonable task as directed by the supervisor / line manager, within the post holders capabilities. Full training will be given where required.
